Welcome to IT’S A KINGDOM

Welcome to the new It's a Kingdom!

Hello, and welcome to the new home of It’s A Kingdom. I’m Nadine, the blogger behind this little online space, and I’m so glad you found me. Come on in, have a cup of tea and make yourself at home while I’ll tell you a little bit about this place….

It’s A Kingdom was originally born in 2012, as itsakingdom.blogspot.co.uk, when I emigrated from Germany to England. You would like to hear the full story?

Well, my journey to this beautiful island began a couple of years before that on the other side of the world in Australia. Amongst orange farms and vineyards, I met a handsome Englishman. We danced, we kissed, we fell in love. We went long distance for a while, juggling our careers and separate lives between weekend visits, face time calls and farewells. One day – longing for a slower, simpler, more family-focused life with my favourite Englishman – I decided to quit my job in Germany, packed all my belongings in a borrowed VW van and headed towards the Kingdom (hence the name of the blog).

I started this small blog as a way of documenting my new life in England and a way to share my thoughts with and inspire others. However, It’s a Kingdom has been much more than just a place to tell my stories; it has inspired me to live my life the way I want to: slow, seasonal, wholeheartedly.

After sharing my adventures for over three years and equally following along so many wonderful journeys in blogland I decided to leap beyond the hobby-writing, giving It’s a Kingdom a brand new home and logo (which was created by my wonderful friend James, who captured the essence of this little space so magically in his hand drawn illustration) and adding a little handmade business into the mix. Yes, there is It’s a Kingdom – the shop now, too; selling unique, handmade buntings and banners in limited editions to celebrate the seasons. (Shop the Sunday Brunch Collection here!)

From my new base I want to continue my journey to a simpler, happier home and life. Guided by W.H. Davies’ words “What is this life, if, full of care, we have no time to stop and stare…”; I want to dive deeper into the adventures that unfold when you live seasonally – both through stories on the blog and handmade items in the shop.

Embracing the art of slow blogging I hope to fill this space three-weekly with adventures from the allotment (behind the hedges), explorations into the countryside (map adventures) and tales from the nesting home. Encouraging myself (and you, if you wish) to grow, explore, discover, nest and make each season. I would love for you to join me and hope that what I share brings you joy and inspires you.

Nadine, xo
